Verifying the Exit Permit Only

Step 1. Study Permit
Step 2. Visa for Study Purposes
Step 3. Limited Stay Permit
Step 4. STM and SKTT
Step 5. Exit Permit Only (EPO)

An Exit Permit Report, also known as Exit Permit Only (EPO), is the process of reporting a valid limited stay permit (ITAS) to the local immigration authorities before leaving the country where your stay permit was approved. This report is necessary to officially terminate your sponsorship with the university, individual, or company that sponsored your stay.

Why is this so crucial?

Getting the EPO verified is essential because it directly affects your future visa applications. If you skip this report, your document status will remain connected to your sponsor, and you will not be able to apply for a new visa under any sponsor. According to Indonesian regulations, a foreigner can only have one active sponsor for their stay permit. If your visa status has not been cleared, you cannot begin the process of applying for a new visa.

How to get the EPO verified?

The report must be submitted by BINUS University through the visa application system at https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/web/services. However, the sponsor will need the ITAS holder’s return e-ticket to complete the report submission to the immigration authorities.

Can I do it myself?

Unfortunately, no, you cannot. The procedure must be completed online using the sponsor’s verified visa account. Only sponsors are authorized to submit this application, so foreigners cannot apply for the EPO independently.

The EPO must be processed before the foreigner departs or leaves the country. It is important to arrange the exit permit report carefully, as it must be submitted no later than 14 (fourteen) days before your stay permit (ITAS) expires. The processing time typically takes 7 days, during which you must leave the country. If you fail to do so, you will be charged a penalty fee of 1 million rupiah per day. Therefore, it is crucial to manage your timeline carefully under the guidance and supervision of BINUS IZN visa staff.

BINUS requires you to leave Indonesia no later than 2 weeks after your program ends. Before you leave, you must obtain an EPO stamp from the Immigration Office. (EPO is the termination of stay permit and return of immigration documents.)

You must submit the following documents to BINUS Internationalization 7 days before your departure date:

  • Original and copy of your passport
  • Sponsor and Guarantee Letter from BINUS University
  • Copy of flight ticket booking
  • Copy of ITAS
  • Copy of Study Permit

If your EPO request is approved, you will receive EPO stamp in your passport. You must leave Indonesia within this 7-day period.

The Exit Permit Only (EPO) is essential because you never know when you may need to re-enter the country in the future. Completing the exit permit process before leaving ensures that your visa status is cleared. Confirming this arrangement with your sponsor helps you avoid overstaying, allowing you to return to your home country safely and without complications.
