A4U Scholarship for PhD Student

BINUS University proudly participates in the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility Programme, which offers funded mobility opportunities for PhD students from Indonesia to Spain. The program is open to PhD students from all subject areas; however, applicants must ensure that their request aligns with the opportunities available at the host university.

The Alliance of 4 Universities (A4U) is a strategic partnership of four Spanish public universities: Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), and Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) in Barcelona. One of the objectives of A4U’s internationalization strategy is to promote mobility with leading universities in non-European countries.

A4U has been awarded funding under Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility Programme, which enables students from A4U universities and partner universities to undertake a mobility stay.

The main objectives of the mobility program are:

1. To offer research and study development opportunities to students at participating universities, helping them achieve sustained improvements in their knowledge and research skills.
2. To help mobility participants enhance their professional, social, and inter-cultural skills, as well as their employability, while promoting cross-cultural exchange and dialogue.
3. To establish lasting connections between A4U universities and its partner institutions, strengthening transnational academic cooperation.

Mobilities should take place during the 2025-2026 academic year, following the academic calendar of the host institution. Exceptionally, mobility may be postponed to the 2026-2027 academic year.

Program Details

Eligibility Requirements

• Highly motivated and proactive
• Registered as an active PhD student at BINUS University
• Must have completed at least one semester of studies in the BINUS doctoral programme
• Strong English proficiency, supported by an English proficiency certificate (recommended certificates: TOEFL iBT min. 79, or PBT min. 550, IELTS min. 6.0)
• Demonstrates good character and maturity

Required Documents

• Curriculum Vitae (abridged, max. 2 pages)
• Learning Agreement, signed by the applicant, the dissertation supervisor at BINUS, and the host academic at the receiving institution. ONLY the first 4 pages need to be completed (electronic signatures are accepted). Students applying to Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and Universitat Pompeu Fabra must also provide an invitation letter from the host academic.
• Recommendation Letter, which must be sent directly by the referee to coordinacion@a-4u.eu  with “Recommendation Letter” in the subject field by the application deadline.
