BINUS FESTIVAL “Internationalization Seminars” – Even Semester 2021/2022

BINUS UNIVERSITY held BINUS Festival on 20 – 23 May 2022. This event was organized for BINUS students as a supplementary learning experience. As a part of our internationalization program, the International Seminars aimed to equip students with a better understanding of globalization and its challenges. This year BINUS Festival continued to focus on the theme “Health & Wealth: Issues and Strategies in the Post-Pandemic World“.

The objectives of this event were 1) to prepare students to face the post-pandemic challenges and circumstances, 2) to enrich students with a better understanding about pandemic impact and implication to the world, and 3) to inspire students to create a strategy to restore the economic condition after the pandemic or endemic.

This semester, BINUS was honored to have six distinguished speakers from different expertise backgrounds and nationalities.

The first speaker was Mr Rob Fenn, Deputy Head of Mission UK Embassy of UK Government. He delivered a seminar with the theme “What’s Next After Covid” on 20 May 2022 at 13.20 – 15.00. He shared his perspectives and ideas on the post covid-19 situation in UK and how the government improves the economic stability in UK. Ms. Diah Wihardini, PhD, BINUS Global Director, also joined as the moderator for this session.

The second speaker was Mr. Marcel Gasser (CV). Marcel is a Managing Director of GEN Switzerland. He delivered a presentation on “Staying Sane in an Insane World” on 20 May 2022 at 15.20 – 17.00. He explained his experience and expertise on how to be a better person every day. He said that Life is a journey, not a destination. It is very important to keep trust, communication and manifestation to get success in career and happiness in life. This session was moderated by Ms Dita Rany Anggraeni, S.Pd, M.Biomed as International Experience Section Head from BINUS Global


Next speaker was H.E. Cosmas Cheppy Triprakoso Wartono. He is The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Mexico, Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala. On this occasion, the ambassador shared about “What’s Next After Covid” on 23 May 2022 at 09.20 – 11.00. This session was moderated by Ms. Paramitaningrum, Ph.D, Deputy Class of Global Class – International Relations. H.E. Cosmas Cheppy Triprakoso Wartono described the covid-19 situation in Mexico and how the government faced it.

On 23 May 2022 at 09.20 – 11.00, Ms. Marcella Katjijova, Psychological Counsellor and Administration Head from the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Creations, Namibia discussed “Being an Entrepreneur Can Also Be an Addiction”. Marcella gave insights to be an entrepreneur and some suggestions to face mental issues to the students. Ms. Dita Rany Anggraeni from BINUS Global was leading the discussion as a moderator.

The fifth speaker was Dr Mohsin Ali, Senior Lecturer at the School of Accounting & Finance Faculty of Business & Law from Taylor’s University, Malaysia. He shared the seminar with the theme “Wealth Management Strategy and Financial Planning for Millennials” on 23 May 2022 at 11.20 – 13.00. This session is moderated by Doddy Ariefianto, PhD as Associate Head of Finance Program. Ali explained that financial planning is the process of managing your money to achieve personal economic satisfaction. He suggested millennials to start financial planning to achieve financial freedom in the future.

The sixth speaker was Mr Daniel Arifin, VP Investment Business Department Head of Commonwealth Bank Indonesia. He delivered a seminar with the theme “Wealth Management Strategy’ on 23 May 2022 from 11.20 – 13.00. Arifin explained three pillars of wealth management and described Commonwealth Bank’s product and investment. This session was led by Ms. Kartika Dewi, SE.Ak, M.B.A. from Accounting Department.
