BINUS RUN: Raising funds for victims of the earthquake in Palu, Sigi, and Donggola
On 4th November 2018, BINUS UNIVERSITY in cooperation with the BINUS BUSINESS SCHOOL Alumni Association organized the ‘BINUS RUN’, a 5km fun run aimed at raising funds for victims of the earthquake that struck the cities of Palu, Sigi, and Donggola in Central Sulawesi province. Prominent guests who attended the event included Ms Lies Permana Lestari as the Director of Retail of Sarinah; Ms Mardiyah Chamim as the Director of the Tempo Institute; and Ms Dina Sandri Fani as Corporate Head of Human Resources at the Sahid Group.
The fun run incorporated a unique concept. Participants could follow two race types; offline run, and virtual run. The offline run was a 5km course that started at the university’s Jakarta campus before venturing to other parts of the city whereas the virtual run is specifically held for BINUS campuses outside of Jakarta, namely in Bandung, Malang, Alam Sutera, and Bekasi. The races all began promptly at 6 am and the results were entered via an online platform.
Through this event, BINUS UNIVERSITY’s demonstrated its capacity to encourage students and alumni to closely engage in community development programs.
