BINUS UNIVERSITY Hosts Game Jam with Coventry University
From 12th-24th April 2017, BINUS UNIVERSITY in cooperation with Coventry University hosted the BINUS-Coventry Game Jam Project which was held at BINUS UNIVERSITY’s Jakarta campus.
Following on from the success of last year’s Game Jam, the event featured a one-week programme in which 6 students from each university engaged in a variety of activities that tested their skills as game developers. The Game Jam programme demonstrated BINUS UNIVERSITY’s capacity in carrying out its mission of equipping its students with real-world experiences to become globally-competitive leaders.
As part of Game Jam, participants were asked to carry out the game creation process incorporating planning, design, and programming, resulting in the production of a prototype; participants were judged on their programming competency as well as the aesthetics of their prototypes. Moreover, Coventry University also conducted special guest lectures on the topics ‘Serious Games – The New Creative Industry’, ‘Cyber Security’, and ‘Going International – Student Life and Culture in the UK’ in addition to visiting cultural heritage sites across Jakarta and Bogor.
Through the BINUS-Coventry Game Jam Project, BINUS UNIVERSITY aimed to further educated its students on the latest nuances of programming and game development. As such, BINUS UNIVERSITY hopes to foster young talent that can develop the country’s games industry which will ultimately play a vital role in supporting and advancing Indonesia’s creative industry sector.
