May 11, 2013, is a historical day for AIESEC BINUS as they finally recognized as an Official Full Member Local Committee of AIESEC in Indonesia.

AIESEC (Association Internationale des Etudiants en Science Economique et Commerciale) is the world’s largest youth-run organization. Focused on providing a platform for youth leadership development, AIESEC offers young people the opportunity to be global citizen, problem-solver as local citizen, to get experience and skills that matter today and can change the world. This happens through integrated AIESEC Experiences of Exchange and Leadership opportunities in 110 countries of AIESEC network. Established in 1984, AIESEC Indonesia has been a platform for Indonesian youth in developing their leadership through unique practical experiences.

In partnership with business and higher education, AIESEC has 60 years of experience in developing students into globally-minded leaders. AIESEC’s innovative development process consists of unmatched leadership experiences and global internships program. Every year AIESEC facilitates over 5000 exchanges across 113 countries, with an overriding commitment to International understanding and cooperation. AIESEC has an innovative approach to engaging and developing young people into the leaders needed today and tomorrow.

AIESEC’s members have been recognized by world leaders from The United Nations to former US president George H.W. Bush. The organization has also shown a proven track record of leadership development, with notable alumni like former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl and Former US President Bill Clinton.

Journey of AIESEC in BINUS started in 2010. In October 2010, BINUS University International Office initiated the Expansion Team recruitment and together with AIESEC Indonesia, ten candidates were selected. Another selection process resulted in a five-member expansion team. The team had to go through various phases of activities and evaluation before becoming an official chapter of the organization.

Despite the challenges the team faced, such as getting new members to join the program, engaging external stakeholders, overcoming knowledge barrier, these provided great avenues in developing responsible and entrepreneurial leaders–dynamic AIESECers!

In its 2.5- years of development, AIESEC BINUS has been awarded:

  • Best Expansion Team Leader (October 2011)
  • Best Expansion Team (January 2012)
  • Incoming Exchange Global Internship Program Frenzy Matching Award (January 2013)

Being an official Local Committee in the AIESEC global network after a relatively short period compared is significant to all our dynamic BINUS AIESECers. We hope many more join them. Congratulations, BINUS AIESEC!
