Applying for a Study Permit
Step 1. Study Permit
Step 2. Visa for Study Purposes
Step 3. Limited Stay Permit
Step 4. STM and SKTT
Step 5. Exit Permit Only (EPO)
If you are interested in studying at BINUS University, you will need to secure a study visa in order to remain in Indonesia for the duration of your studies. The study visa is essential for international students to legally stay in the country while pursuing their academic programs. Before you can apply for a study visa, you must first obtain a study permit, known as Izin Belajar (IB). This permit serves as official authorization from the Indonesian government that you are allowed to study in the country.
As the host institution, BINUS University will assist you in applying for the Izin Belajar (IB) on your behalf. Once your application is submitted, the request will be reviewed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of Indonesia. They will evaluate the details and, if everything is in order, will issue the IB, which is a necessary step for your visa application.
The process of obtaining the IB typically takes 5 to 7 working days, but it’s important to plan ahead and submit all required documentation well in advance to avoid any delays. To initiate the process, you must submit the following documents at least 12 weeks before your expected arrival date in Indonesia. This ensures that there is enough time to process your application and avoid any last-minute issues.
Required Documents
- Letter of Acceptance
This letter confirms that you have been officially admitted to BINUS University. It is issued by the university and is a vital part of your application. - Color Copy of Passport (Personal Details Page, in Color)
You will need to submit a clear color copy of the page of your passport that contains your personal information, including your name, nationality, date of birth, and passport number. - Photograph (Passport-sized, Headshot, Formal Attire, in Color)
A recent passport-sized photograph is required. The photo should show you in formal attire, with a clear headshot and a neutral expression. - Abridged CV (Résumé)
A brief curriculum vitae (CV) or résumé outlining your academic and professional background is necessary. This document gives insight into your qualifications and achievements. - Scan/Electronic Copy of Academic Transcript
A digital copy of your most recent academic transcript must be submitted. This document provides a record of your previous educational qualifications. - Graduation Certificate (Only if Applying to a Full Degree Program)
If you are applying for a full degree program (undergraduate or postgraduate), you will need to provide a copy of your graduation certificate. This verifies that you have completed your previous studies. - Health Certificate Signed by a Medical Doctor and Issued by a Hospital
A health certificate from a medical doctor is required to confirm that you are in good health and fit to study in Indonesia. Please note that the certificate must be issued by a certified hospital and will only be valid for eight weeks from the date of issuance. If you are unable to provide a health certificate, you may submit the Health Statement Form as an alternative. - Signed Financial Statement Form
You will need to provide a signed financial statement form that demonstrates you have sufficient financial resources to cover your living expenses and studies in Indonesia. - Signed Non-political and Non-working Statement Form
This form confirms that you will not engage in any political activities or employment while studying in Indonesia. It is a requirement for all international students applying for a study permit.
Once you have gathered all the necessary documents, please submit them to BINUS University to begin the application process for your Izin Belajar. The university will then proceed with the application and keep you informed of any further steps or additional requirements.
