Dione Wirawan: Exchange at Kyung Hee University, South Korea

Exchange at Kyung Hee University, South Korea (Fall 2012)
A lot of people said that I would not be selected as an exchange student because the courses from my major are hard to match with other universities’ courses. Despite all of that, I encouraged myself and my friend to join the Student Exchange Program. We never thought that we could make it, but our passion for Korea was bigger than our concerns. And there we were in Suwon city, South Korea, studying in Kyung Hee University!
At first, I came across some difficulty with the course selection. There were only a few classes taught in English that I could choose (I had taken most of them in BINUS) while classes conducted in Korean were also hard to choose because it was up to the lecturers to accept us. However, awesome IO staff helped me a lot during my stay there.
That aside, living in Korea was the best thing that ever happened in my life! Yes, there were some problems in the first few weeks I was there; not to mention the culture shock. But those were the experiences I will remember for the rest of my life. From meeting new people, making new friends, to living in a new environment, it was a whole new journey altogether.
Thanks to this program, I have matured so much. Now I know the importance of planning my future and believing in myself. Also that if you really want something, there will always be a way if you work hard to achieve it.
I think this is an awesome program where you can develop yourself while you can have fun. There is absolutely no regret joining this program and surely nothing to lose. So come and join this life-changing experience!
