Inspiring Global Learning and Career Pathways in Australia through #AussieBanget Corner Day

Jakarta, 7 October— With over 20,000 Indonesians pursuing careers in Australia, the opportunities are vast. Through our #AussieBanget Corner, BINUS University and the Australian Embassy Jakarta are collaborating to show our students how a study abroad experience can directly open these global pathways and enhance their educational journey.

“Our transnational education collaboration with Australian universities are growing stronger. Over the past years, more than 300 of our students have joined double-degree programs in Australia, and around 150 have taken part in exchange or study abroad programs across more than 20 university partners,” shared Dr. Rini Setiowati, Vice-Rector for Collaboration and Global Engagement, during the opening.

To provide further insight into career opportunities, Ria Novita, Regional Talent Acquisition Manager APAC at SEEK, Australia’s leading employment marketplace, shared that SEEK’s platform currently lists over 8,000 internship vacancies across the Asia Pacific region and more than 16,000 entry-level job openings, including in Australia. These roles span multiple sectors, including healthcare, technology, construction, engineering, renewable energy, and education, offering both high-quality work environments and a strong quality of life.

Building a successful career in Australia requires a clear job search strategy. Focus on industries with significant skill shortages, leverage professional networks from internships or graduate programs, prepare all essential documents, meet legal requirements, and familiarize yourself with common interview formats, such as phone or video interviews, which typically last 15–30 minutes, while face-to-face interviews usually take 45–60 minutes,” explained Ria.

Aswinny Sudhiani, Education Manager at Austrade (Australian Embassy Jakarta), shared key insights during the session. She noted that students can choose from a wide range of Australian institutions, many of which are our partners—including the University of New South Wales, the University of Queensland, and the University of Western Australia!

Our Binusian community also had the chance to explore the prestigious Australia Awards scholarships from the Australian Government. This program provides comprehensive support, including financial aid, English language training, personalized consultations with university representatives, and hands-on assistance throughout the entire application and placement journey.

Finally, the success of #AussieBanget Corner Day illustrates how the close and longstanding ties between Indonesia and Australia continue to grow through education. This collaboration aligns closely with BINUS University’s mission to provide enriching international experiences for our students, faculty, and staff to engage in global learning and academic exchange. Through such programs, we aim to nurture globally minded individuals who can engage constructively on the international stage.
