Youth Leadership and Empowerment at BINUS Festival International Seminar
Tangerang, 23 November — The BINUS Festival International Seminar returned on November 20-22 held in a hybrid format and attended by 3440 students across multiple locations in Jakarta, Alam Sutera, Bekasi, Bandung, Semarang, and Malang.
With a focus on “Youth Empowerment: Navigating Future Leaders,” this event features global speakers from diverse fields. Aiming to enhance students’ global perspectives and prepare them for advancing sustainable initiatives.

Dr. Wee Meng Yeo from the University of Glasgow opened the seminar with insights on advancing sustainable supply chain management through environmental, social, and governance (ESG) integration, encouraging students to lead in this field. Adding to this, Mr. Putra Lumi from Western Sydney University emphasized the vital role of young people in driving social change through innovative and community-driven initiatives.
As part of the seminar series, we were honored to learn from His Excellency Prof. Fekadu Beyena Aleka, the Ambassador of Ethiopia to Indonesia, who provided a thoughtful discussion on the role of youth leadership as part of cultural diplomacy, demonstrating how this can serve as a cultural bridge to unite in diversity.

Ms. Irma Irawati Ibrahim, SS., M.Kom., Deputy Campus Director for Academic Operation and Resources at BINUS @Alam Sutera emphasized that “In today’s seminar, His Excellency exemplifies our mission to empower students with international exposure, strengthen global connections and cross-cultural exchange, and foster mutual understanding while building meaningful diplomacy partnerships like the one we established with the Embassy of Ethiopia.”
At BINUS @Bekasi on the second day, Ms. Tirta Amerta Effendi from the Taiwan Education Center Indonesia shared detailed information about studying in Taiwan. She discussed exchange programs and postgraduate studies, including PhD degree, and motivated students to consider Taiwan for their educational journey and to engage with its vibrant, culturally diverse communities.
Ms. Dina Novita Sari, a representative from the International Labour Organization, wrapped up the final day of the seminar series with an inspiring session, encouraging our students to, “In today’s competitive global labor market, pursue your passion and confront challenges with strength and confidence.” The event’s success was further amplified by the enthusiastic involvement of students, faculty, staff, and speakers, which fostered a valuable exchange of ideas and experiences.
