VIT University

Vellore Institute of Technology, usually known as VIT University, is one of the top private universities in India offering quality higher education on par with international standards. It comprises seven schools offering 17 undergraduate programs and 28 post-graduate programs and several doctoral program. The University is among the first in India to implement the Fully Flexible Credit System (FFCS) which allows the students to arrange their academic plan by registering for courses according to their interests and academic abilities.

Founded in 1984 as Vellore Engineering College, its engineering programs have been recognized and accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET Inc) of USA. In addition, VIT became the first university in India to receive accreditation from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Energy Institute, United Kingdom in 2004. VIT University also obtained the highest possible grade of “A” from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for all the programs offered by the University in January 2009. It has campuses both at Vellore and Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
