BINUS UNIVERSITY Hosts Taiwan Scholarship Orientation, Expanding Global Learning Opportunities for Indonesian Students

Jakarta, 11 July 2026 – Opportunities for young Indonesians to gain international education experience in Taiwan continue to expand. In 2026, 86 Indonesian students, including three from BINUS University, received the Taiwan Scholarship and the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of China (Taiwan). By receiving one of these scholarships, recipients will pursue undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral studies across Taiwan universities or strengthen their Mandarin language skills through intensive language study at Mandarin Learning Center (MLC).

To help recipients prepare for the next stage of their academic journey the Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) in Indonesia selected BINUS University to host the Taiwan Scholarship and Huayu Enrichment Scholarship Recipients Orientation 2026. Held on 10 July at the BINUS @Kemanggisan – Kijang Campus, the event equipped participants with academic, cultural, and practical insights before their departure for Taiwan.

“Taiwan is home to a diverse and welcoming society where every individual is encouraged to learn, grow, and pursue new possibilities. Alongside its internationally recognized education system, Taiwan has become an important hub in the global artificial intelligence and high-technology supply chain. We hope the recipients will take this opportunity to engage with these developments, expand their understanding of the world, and build valuable experiences for the next stage of their lives,” said His Excellency Bruce Chen-Jung Hung, Representative of the Taipei Economic and Trade Office in Indonesia.

This year’s event was especially meaningful, as it was the first recipients’ orientation to return to an on-site format since the pandemic. Hosting the event represented an important expression of trust in BINUS University and strengthened its long-standing collaborations with TETO Indonesia and 30 active partner universities across Taiwan.

TETO Indonesia’s support has grown into a broader academic partnership with BINUS University. In addition to providing scholarship opportunities, the collaboration has brought professors from Taiwan to BINUS and created opportunities for researchers to work together on shared areas of interest.

“This partnership is not only about creating opportunities abroad. It is about bringing new knowledge, perspectives, and connections into our academic community. For 45 years, BINUS University has been committed to fostering and empowering society through education, innovation, and collaboration. Our relationship with Taiwan helps students and faculty members become more globally prepared while building networks that can contribute to a better future for society and Indonesia,” said Rector Nelly.

From 2024 to 2026, the collaboration resulted in more than 50 joint activities, 54 research publications, and over 200 student mobility opportunities. The success of three BINUS students in earning scholarships for 2026 is a particular source of pride for the university.

Congratulations to Jiusandi Japri, a Psychology student selected for the Taiwan Scholarship, and to Global Business Chinese students Niko Dwi Marshello and Natanael Yongka, recipients of the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship. Their success reflects their competencies, thorough preparation, and commitment to advancing their knowledge in an international academic environment. We hope their achievements will inspire more students from BINUS and across Indonesia to pursue similar opportunities and broaden their academic and cultural perspectives through study in Taiwan.
