Short Graduate Business Learning Experience

Jakarta, 14 July – What comes next after graduation? For Micahel Edi Lee from the Information Systems program and Nasywa Alya Kharasani, the recent graduate of International Business Management, began to find answers through their journey in the National University School (NUS) B’School Summer Programme 2025.

The 3-day program provided a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in graduate-level business education by attending the master class trial at the school. It also brought together students from across ASEAN countries for cultural exposure and global networking, including visits to several multinational companies and trips around Singapore.

“Now that I’ve completed my study at BINUS, I am planning to pursue a Master’s in sustainability as a foundation for continuing toward a PhD to become an expert in this field. I developed a keen interest in sustainability while working on a joint project between RMIT University, Australia, and BINUS University to create digital access for sustainability reports under the supervision of Dr. Marko S. Hermawan, the Head of the International Business Management Program. He (Dr. Marko) encouraged me to join to explore how NUS Business School and its Center for Governance and Sustainability (CGS) incorporate sustainability into their business curriculum and practices,” shared Nasywa.

At BINUS University, we have a strong commitment to fostering and empowering society by embedding sustainability goals into our learning processes, research initiatives, and community development programs, ensuring that our graduates become responsible global citizens and changemakers.

Meanwhile, Michael aspires to launch his fintech startup shortly, driven by the rapid growth of Indonesia’s fintech industry, which now hosts around 20% of ASEAN’s fintech startups, according to the latest 2024 report from the US International Trade Administration.

With a solid foundation in information systems and programming, he’s now looking to deepen his financial knowledge. He is considering the MSc in finance at NUS Business School, the leading business school in Asia.

“By joining this summer program, I had the chance to see how NUS professors teach. They are highly knowledgeable and explained complex topics, especially those related to finance, in a clear and to-the-point approach, which made it easier for me to grasp. Together with Nasywa, we also had the chance to exchange insights with fellow students and enjoy exploring the city during our free time. The whole experience made me even more excited to pursue further studies in Finance, and I’d recommend this program to my friends who are into business or finance,” said Michael.

The journey at NUS prompted Nasywa and Michael to reflect on how their education at BINUS University has prepared them not only to be academically competent graduates but also to be globally minded and socially responsible. By participating in international learning opportunities, engaging with global peers and industry practices, they gained a broader perspective on their roles as future leaders and changemakers.
