Deepening Cultural Understanding Through Film and Education

Jakarta, 2 May— Film is a powerful media to bring cultures together as mentioned by His Excellence Francisco de Asís as the Ambassador of Spain to the Republic of Indonesia during an exciting engagement to deepen Spanish culture through the screening of “Campeones,” an award-winning Spanish sports comedy film internationally known as “Champions” at our BINUS University Anggrek Campus.

“Spain has a long-standing academic tradition dating back to the 13th century, and we believe in empowering younger generations through knowledge, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding,” said Mr. Asís.

Our collaboration with the Faculty of Humanities aims to enhance students’ awareness of the importance of cultural skills. This initiative supports the university’s goal of integrating international perspectives into education.

Cultural skills are vital for navigating our interconnected world. Cinema’s emotional impact helps bridge cultural divides, fostering empathy and curiosity. In the digital era, movies employ multimedia storytelling to make cultural learning engaging. Ultimately, films cultivate the understanding needed to thrive in a global society, one story at a time.

In addition, BINUS University continues to expand its global reach through long-standing collaborations with top Spanish institutions, including UCAM and the A4U network, for deepening our role in shaping future-ready, globally minded graduates.

Lastly, the university is excited to host this engagement, which will serve as a forum to prepare future graduates with empathy, creativity, and an understanding of diverse cultures.
