Lucy Geraldine: Be Fearless!
Tangerang – Let’s sit with Lucy Geraldine, our International Business Management Global Class student at Alam Sutera. Not only did she have many moments to remember, but her numerous achievements would not be possible without the support of BINUS University’s continuous ensuring that she can be the best version of herself!
Q: Congratulations on your achievements, Lucy! Can you tell us what inspired you to enter a business competition?
A: Thank you! My journey began in my second semester when I was introduced to a program run by the Management Lab team at Alam Sutera Campus. When I discovered the opportunity to join the BINUS Business Competition Group (BBCG), I knew I had to join with other mates. Why? It was the perfect opportunity to push myself beyond academic boundaries.
Q: What strategies did you and your team use to succeed in these competitions?
A: We focused heavily on practicing various business case studies and practicing our public speaking skills. These are important because they cultivate our courage to be in public.
Q: We heard that you have won several other business competitions. Can you tell us about some of the most memorable ones?
A: Initially, winning competitions seemed like a distant dream! I remember when we joined several national competitions and were recognized as the Most Prospective Team at the University Business Solution Challenges. We then won first place at the 24th Management Competition, where we proudly received the Special Region of Yogyakarta Governor’s Trophy!
Q: Wow, that’s amazing! I think you have more to share. Tell us!
A: Yes, we secured first place in the Consulting Consortium hosted by the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, and the same position at the HACKATHON organized by the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Women in Technology.
Q: Congrats for being the recipient of d the Indonesian International Student Mobility Award (IISMA) scholarship in 2023 to study at UNSW. How did you feel?
A: I should begin by saying thank you to the International Office who provided the assistance. I think I might lose myself without their guidance in ensuring that I can fulfill all the documentation!
P.S. Thank you so much for organizing the info sessions!
When I heard the news that I received the IISMA scholarship and studied at UNSW, I couldn’t be more thankful for this opportunity since it opened doors for me to pursue higher education in Australia, fulfilling my academic ambitions.
Q: How has your time at BINUS University prepared you for these achievements?
A: I couldn’t begin to express my gratitude to everyone at BINUS University for their support, especially in the various competitions that helped me enrich my knowledge and skills. I think this contributed to my success in the competitions!
Q: What advice would you give to other students who aspire to achieve similar success?
A: Be fearless! Go outside of your comfort zone! Don’t procrastinate – especially if you are working on your thesis!
Thank you, Lucy, for sharing with us. Not only that everyone is rooting for your success, but we hope that this story can inspire others to be fearless and be the best version of yourself!
