Empowering Entrepreneurship Across Borders through Venture Builder Program

Jakarta, 24 May – BINUS University and the Singapore University of Social Science (SUSS) collaborated to execute the BINUS x SUSS Venture Builder – Regional Impact Program 2024. Conducted at our Kemanggisan Campus from 16 to 22 May 2024, this initiative stands as a significant step forward in fostering cross boarder partnerships and nurturing the entrepreneurial spiring among students from both institutions.

One of the highlights of the program was the industry visit to VegForU, a startup company initiating the agri-food sector with its focus on hydroponic vegetable production and distribution. They learned directly from VegForU’s founder about the challenges and opportunities of managing 11 farming locations in Bogor, monthly producing 6 tons of organic hydroponic vegetables.

The program brought together 29 students from both institutions, providing them with a platform to engage in series of immersive events equipping students with various insights into Jakarta’s business culture, e-commerce, digital marketing, legal frameworks, and startup ecosystems.

Dr. Reina, S.Kom., M.M., Vice-rector of Academic Operations and Resources and our Kemanggisan Campus Director, welcomed the participants with enthusiasm, highlighted the shared cultural roots and missions between Indonesia and Singapore. “As neighboring nations and fellow members of ASEAN, both countries are committed to fostering societal development and nation-building,” said Dr. Reina.

Before wrapping up the program, five student teams presented their entrepreneurial venture during the Pitching Ideas and Demo Day. Among the standout presentations was from Tickle team, a startup providing digital management services for mental health experts and coaches, aiming to connect clients with their target audience in addressing a pressing need in the mental health industry.

By bridging academic expertise with real-world experiences, the program empowered students to turn their ideas into actionable ventures and foster innovation across borders, contributing to positive change and sustainable development in the region.
