Navigating New Horizons at EAIE Rotterdam 2023

Rotterdam, 29 September 2023 – Delegation from our university led by the Vice-Rector of Collaboration & Global Engagement, Prof. Dr. Tirta Nugraha Mursitama, Ph.D. flew to Rotterdam as part of the EIAE 2023 on a mission to explore, connect, and collaborate with esteemed partner institutions worldwide.

From the very first day, the team was immersed in a dynamic environment that celebrated the spirit of international education. The delegates had the privilege of visiting the Partners Day at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences, located in the idyllic town of Zwolle, Netherlands. This visit provided a unique opportunity to delve into the heart of academic life and engage in discussions on project-based learning collaboration. The eye-opening experience established stronger ties between the two institutions.

The connections made during this event are significant for our institutions and the students who will benefit from the collaborative programs. “It’s a testament to the power of global education in shaping the leaders of tomorrow,” said Prof. Tirta Nugraha Mursitama, Vice-Rector for Collaboration and global Engagement at BINUS University, expressed his enthusiasm.

As the days unfolded, the team continued to foster meaningful connections with renowned institutions. Meetings with partners like Nagoya University of Foreign Language, ANU Australia, Aarhus University in Denmark, and Duy Tan University illuminated the potential for groundbreaking collaborations in various fields, ranging from International Relations to Information Technology and Business.

The most exciting development came from a strategic partnership with IMT, France. This new alliance has paved the way for two exclusive scholarships for BINUS University’s 2024 Women & Tech short program. These scholarships signify a step towards greater inclusivity and promise to be a game-changer for aspiring tech innovators.

“The world of Higher Education has become very rich through the collaboration among universities from different part the world, it is not only for the sake of the institutions, yet it is also for shaping the leaders of the future to be aware on the different cultures, origins and perspectives in seeing each other, ” Theodora Subyantoro, Collaboration Center Manager at BINUS University shared her perspective.


Alongside the event, a significant meeting unfolded between the delegation of BINUS University and esteemed representatives from the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Den Haag. Freddy Martin Panggabean, Deputy Chief of Mission, and Professor Agus Setiabudi, Educational and Cultural Attache, engaged in constructive discussions aimed at bolstering educational ties between Indonesia and the Netherlands.

Their mutual dedication to advancing international education underscores the pivotal role BINUS University plays in fostering global academic connections and cross-cultural exchange.

In addition, the most exciting development came from a strategic partnership with IMT, France. The delegation also sealed a partnership with Savonia University, Finland focusing on Hotel Management & Tourism Program. These scholarships signify a step towards greater inclusivity and promise to be a game-changer for aspiring tech innovators and help gain invaluable international experience.

As the EAIE Rotterdam 2023 event draws to a close, the BINUS University team leaves with optimism based on connections made, insights gained, and partnerships forged have set the stage for a future of global education excellence. This reaffirmed its commitment to providing students with a world-class education that transcends borders.
