BINUS UNIVERSITY Hosts Port O’ Folio
From 3rd-25th February 2019, BINUS UNIVERSITY through its BINUS Northumbria School of Design hosted Port O’ Folio, an event held annually that showcases the final projects of students from the Graphic Design and New Media undergrad program to the general public. Held at the university’s FX campus in Jakarta, the event also provided an important opportunity for students to develop their ability to communicate effectively — a skill that designers need to master as it assures stakeholders, especially non-designers, that the outcome of their projects is a result of user research, and a well-planned design process.
The layout of this year’s event was arranged to simulate that of a real exhibition which also involved BINUS UNIVERSITY inviting many prominent companies and professionals from the graphic design community in Indonesia. During last year’s event, several industry partners such as Disney Jakarta and Emtek Group offered employment and internships to students in addition to providing their expert advice.
The success of Port O’ Folio is a testament to the in-depth courses provided by the BINUS Northumbria School of Design. With the implementation of a British Modular Curriculum, students have extensive coverage of the diverse subject matters in art and design, thus preparing them for the rigours of their prospective career paths in this highly-competitive field.
