BINUS UNIVERSITY Calls for Artwork Submissions for IAIF 2017

BINUS UNIVERSITY is accepting artwork submissions for the Intercultural Academic International Forum (IAIF) 2017 event that will take place at the One Space Gallery venue in China in July 2017. The event began in 2016 by BINUS UNIVERSITY’s Creative Advertising study programme and sought to serve as a platform for higher education institutions in Indonesia and internationally to showcase their upper-hand in art and design. This year’s theme will be on ‘The World of Innocence’ and the chosen winner of the exhibition event will have their artwork published in Artwork Magazine. Ms Hanny Wijaya will be representing BINUS UNIVERSITY at the event and will also be a member of the event’s Board of Curators.

As part of the event, visitors and attendees will have the opportunity to partake in a range of programmes held by seasoned professionals such as guest lecture classes, workshops, online exhibitions, and research initiatives. In an effort to engage the public in spearheading the future of art and design, BINUS UNIVERSITY has opened the call for exhibition submissions to academics as well as active students enrolled in a faculty of art and design in a higher education institution; the artwork can also be submitted based on an individual or collective level. Participants are encouraged to hone in on the technique, material, and aesthetic elements for the creation of their artwork submission in order to increase the chances of having their artwork selected for the exhibition; the deadline for submission is on 31st May 2017. The event’s Board of Curators will grade each artwork independently and as such, winners of the exhibition will be selected through this system; members of the Board of Curators include Mr Barry Sheehan from the Dublin Institute of Technology, Mr Edmund Mathews from the University of Wisconsin, Mr Xiao Yong from the Central Academy of Fine Arts – China; Ms Nur Hidayah Abu Bakar from LASALLE College of the Arts – Singapore; and Mr Peter Ride from University of Westminster among others. Through the call for submissions, BINUS UNIVERSITY and its partners are striving to showcase the various interpretations of “innocence” while also promoting the importance of remaining culturally aware.
