STUDY ABROAD AT MONASH UNIVERSITY

I am currently pursuing my PhD in Accounting and Finance at Monash University. I started this incredible journey in July 15, 2013. Thanks to the support from BINUS and sponsorship from Australia Award Scholarship, I can catch this excellent opportunity and expanding my horizon and knowledge. It is sad to temporarily leave my position at the Accounting and Finance Department of BINUS University, nurturing great talents of BINUS to become bright prominent stars. But I personally believe that in the long run, this will become an important cornerstone for the advancement of BINUS itself.
The reason why I chose Monash was because its world-renown reputation. Monash University is amongst the top 100 universities in the world according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, while in Australia – Monash is a member of the Group of Eight universities recognized for their excellence in teaching and research. In addition, Faculty of Business Economics Monash University has been awarded triple crowns accreditation (AACSB, AMBA & EQUIS), joining the elite ranks of the Business School worldwide, where only less than 1% of business schools in the entire world can get.
My outstanding experience so far because the PhD program in Monash was specifically designed to help me improving my skill as a future academic. The program combines rich-context coursework subject, research and professional training as well as routine research seminar which invited outstanding researcher around the world to share their knowledge and experience.
The most important attitude and preparations that I want encourage others who want follow my step to have are the willingness to keep learning and determination to turn your dream into reality. Studying abroad will definitely require a good planning and preparation because it involves a lot of aspects including administration and funding requirement, career planning and personal adaptation toward new culture. It is not an easy and simple thing to do, but it will become a worthwhile experience.
My special message to everyone is that I believe education is the tool to advance a nation. Through a high quality education, we will have a chance to inspire and guide others to discover a new way of thinking, solving problem and innovate our life, bringing it to a whole new level.
