BINUS UNIVERSITY Hosts French Day 2018
On 9th April 2018, BINUS UNIVERSITY hosted French Day 2018 at its Anggrek Campus in Jakarta. Held in collaboration with the Institut Français d’Indonesie (IFI) — the French Embassy’s cultural centre — the event was organized as a French-themed corner of the university’s library and aimed to educate students on France and its history as well as the various opportunities available to further their education in the country’s most prominent universities.
Present at the event were speakers from leading higher-education establishments in France. This included Ms Morgane Didier from the ISC Paris School of Management who taught basic French to attendees, and Ms Noémie D’halluin from the ISTC École de Communication, who presented unique aspects of French culture and the country’s tourism sector.
Students were also showcased France’s diverse culinary landscape by Ms Inés Schmitt from the IFI and Mr Abu Hanifah, an Indonesian chef and alumni of the École Hôtelière de Paris CFA Médéric. Furthermore, the event featured a seminar themed, ‘Maintenance of International Peace and Security’, presented by Mr Arnaud Amouroux — a peacebuilding and security specialist — who explored the key issues surrounding some of the world’s most volatile conflicts and the solutions required to achieve long-term peace.
French Day 2018 is demonstrative of BINUS UNIVERSITY’s commitment to continue expanding its already extensive network of international partners. Through developing such relationships, the university is building new channels for cooperation in important areas such as research and entrepreneurship, as well as in other initiatives to help advance Indonesia’s industries.
