"My time at Tokyo Metropolitan University showed me that studying abroad is about much more than earning academic credits. Learning with students from Japan and other countries made every discussion richer, as we regularly shared stories and perspectives from our own cultures. Through the Introduction to Japanese Studies course, I discovered another side of learning. A tea ceremony introduced me to the spirit of Omotenashi, while lessons on Satoyama and fieldwork at Mount Takao showed me how Japanese communities maintain a thoughtful balance between nature, culture, and tourism.
