BINUS UNIVERSITY Holds Wonderful Indonesia and Korea Workshop Series

During the 10th-11th October 2019, BINUS University held an event entitled ‘Wonderful Indonesia and Korea Workshop Series’ or ‘WINK’, to mark the signing of an MoU between BINUS and Yonsei University, South Korea. The event comprised of two parts with the first day focused on the new industrial revolution with perspectives from representatives from BINUS University and Yonsei University followed by the second day which looked into the impact of technology on daily life and society which was complemented by a traditional art performance and cultural activities.

On 10th October 2019 at the Sudirman Campus, the official MoU signing between BINUS University and Yonsei University took place. Prof. Jaesok Kim PhD from Yonsei University then delivered a keynote speech on the subject of ‘The Role of IT Engineers in the 4th Industrial Revolution’. This was seconded by BINUS University’s Dr Ford Lumban Gaol who spoke on the subject of ‘The Impact of Industry 4.0 on Society 5.0’. On the second day of the WINK event, two keynote speeches on the topic of ‘Smart Homes and Their Impact on Our Lives’ were presented that provided insightful investigations into the fast-changing world of technology within the home and how daily life is being shaped as a result. To further enrich BINUS University students and faculty members’ knowledge of South Korean culture, the Anggrek Campus simultaneously hosted a K- Beauty Hairshow and Traditional Performance to showcase both the traditional and modern faces of South Korean culture.

This most recent MoU with Yonsei University marks the latest development in BINUS University’s efforts to cultivate academic ties and cooperation with leading universities in South Korea. South Korea is the third-largest source of foreign investment in Indonesia with many of the country’s leading brands such as Samsung, Hyundai and Lotte having established strong footholds in the market contributing to $27 billion USD in bilateral trade. BINUS University is therefore actively focusing on strengthening connections to top universities throughout South Korea to provide its students with opportunities to understand and interact with a leading economic power in the region that is having a significant impact on consumer and industrial technology at a local, regional and global level.
